Russia, Ukraine Exchange Drone Strikes
In Russia, Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev said an overnight Ukrainian drone strike damaged several residential buildings and a commercial facility, noting that over 30 drones were shot down.
A child was killed when a drone hit his home, while the child’s parents were critically injured and hospitalized; another neighbor was also hurt.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that 155 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight across 16 regions, including Yaroslavl and the annexed Crimean Peninsula.
In Ukraine, Oleh Kiper, governor of the southern Odesa region, said “massive strikes” targeted civilian and critical infrastructure in the regional capital.
Two people were killed and 12 injured, including a 9-year-old boy, with one of the buildings hit being a four-story maternity hospital, Kiper added.
He later reported that port infrastructure was also struck in a morning attack, damaging a grain gallery and an empty tank at an unspecified port.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media that more than 60 drones were used in the attack on Odesa.
Overnight strikes also affected the Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions, where local authorities reported one death in each area.
Ukraine’s Air Force said its air defenses intercepted most of the drones launched by Russia, shooting down 252 of 273.
