UK's Deputy Prime Minister Set for Talks in Kyiv
Ukrainian Ambassador to Britain Valerii Zaluzhnyi confirmed the senior official's arrival, characterizing it as "another testament to the intensive cooperation" flowing between London and Kyiv.
Zaluzhnyi revealed via Telegram that the day's agenda centered on the Centennial Partnership Forum, where both sides would hammer out concrete plans spanning economic revitalization, post-war reconstruction, and educational initiatives.
The ambassador underscored that security matters would dominate discussions, while expressing appreciation for Britain's unwavering support in championing Ukraine's strategic interests.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha later announced on X (the US social media platform) that he and Lammy had inaugurated the landmark forum, which he said reinforced their "true strategic partnership based on shared values, security, and a joint vision for a secure Europe."
The British deputy premier also sat down with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who disclosed they examined Moscow's relentless aerial bombardment of Ukraine's power grid and explored "ways to strengthen protection against them."
"We are grateful for the UK's decision to provide an energy support package for Ukraine right now, when it is most needed," Zelenskyy posted on X.
Lammy's diplomatic mission arrives precisely 12 months after both governments inked their unprecedented "100-Year Partnership" accord, designed to strengthen military collaboration and counter emerging maritime threats.
