Turkish activist claims Greta Thunberg got tortured by Israel forces

(MENAFN) According to a Turkish activist from the humanitarian Global Sumud Flotilla, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was seriously tortured by Israeli forces following the capture of their boats in international waters.

According to Ersin Celik, one of the detainees who arrived in Istanbul Saturday, Israeli soldiers subjected Thunberg, aged 22, to humiliating treatment while she was detained, he told a news agency.

Celik stated that “they (Israeli forces) severely tortured Greta before our eyes,” he also said that “they persecuted her -- Greta is just a little child. They made her crawl and made her kiss the Israeli flag. They did exactly what the Nazis did once.”

Activists who were attacked and arrested by Israel while on the humanitarian mission in international waters, arrived at Istanbul Airport on Saturday afternoon.

Departing from Eilat's Ramon Airport in Israel, the flight reached the destination at 3:50 p.m. local time, which corresponds to 12:50 GMT.
